Songwriter

Anthony Burnette is the writer and producer of "You Just Might See Santa." At the time Anthony brought this song together he had an aunt who developed heart failure and passed. Then an uncle developed heart failure and passed the following year.

The lyrics and music came to him in about 15 minutes. Because of that he thought the song was meant to do a lot of good beyond invigorating the Christmas spirit. Considering the illnesses of his aunt and uncle and the timing of the song's creation, Anthony found his song's purpose - to raise money to help find a cure for cardiovascular disease.

2015 intensified Anthony's desire to get the word out about his song, about his mission. "Last year, my mom suffered a heart attack. She had to undergo bypass surgery. I never want to go through that feeling again. And, I don't want anyone else to have to go through that feeling either."

"You Just Might See Santa" was written quickly but at the time, Anthony still needed a singer. After failed attempts to coordinate schedules with a singer he already knew, he had reached a roadblock. The schedule Anthony had to keep to get "You Just Might See Santa" out for its first holiday season had become extremely tight. A friend of his told him about a young lady attending NCCU at the time. This young lady's name was Imani Wilson.

Imani auditioned for Anthony singing the jazz classic My Funny Valentine. Anthony was blown away. She then told him she was actually under the weather. Anthony was even further impressed. They agreed to her inclusion on the project.

Typically, singers learn a song and rehearse several times before going into the studio to record to keep from wasting money. Remember, the schedule is now tight, too tight to learn and rehearse the song. Anthony had no choice but to just go into the studio cold with Imani and take as many sessions as necessary to complete the recording. But her audition gave Anthony confidence that she could do what was needed to get the job done. Imani did not disappoint. She learned "You Just Might See Santa" in the studio. The voices you hear on "You Just Might See Santa" are all Imani. She sang the lead melody and harmonized with her own voice in a single studio session. The rest was up to Anthony and the engineer.
